lege 1n 1755. Captain James Babcock distinguished himself in the English army during the French War, and he was also with General Wolfe at the taking of Louisburg. Soon after the close of the war, he, with his family, removed to Bos— ton, where he engaged in business. In 1767, he was lost on his passage from Stonington to Boston.

543. ROBERT BABCOCK, born Dec. 18, 1763; married, May 11, 1793, Mary, daughter of Stephen Hazard. He died Feb. 11, 1848.

544. HANNAH BABCOCK, born Feb. 11, 1768; unmarried.

§ 267. SAMUEL HAZARD, 5 (Robert, 4; Stephen, 3 ; Robert, 2; Thomas, I), was born about 1739; he was admitted freeman from South Kingstown in 1760. He married, May 3, 1763, Hannah, daughter of Benjamin Perry, who died December 12,1772. He married, second, Susannah Perry, sister to his first wife. They were married March 5, 1774. He married, third, December 11,1785, Eliz— abeth, daughter of Deputy~Governor Jonathan Nichols. She died April 4, 1815, at the house of her nephew, Robert Hazard, in Charlestown, Rhode Island.

Samuel Hazard died in 1787.
