IOO Tfie HAZARD FAMILY Judge Fales, of Taunton, Massachusetts. She was, like all her sisters, beautiful. She was engaged to be married to George DeWolfe, of Bristol, Rhode Island; but, just before the wedding—day, she eloped with Nathaniel Hazard. Singularly enough, two of her children married two of the children of DeWolfe's family. CHILDREN 936. SAMUEL HAZARD ; married Martha, daughter of Cbar/er DeWaZfa, of Newport, Rhode Island; he died 1865. 937. GEORGE HAZARD; died young ; unmarried. 938. WILLIAM HAZARD; died about 1879 ; married Nai/ar, of Missouri. 939. SARAH HAZARD; married Char/er, son of C/Jar/e: DaWa/fa, of Newport. 94o. JANE HAZARD; married Dar/id Bugaee, of Bangor, Maine. §469. THOMAS HAZARD, 6 (Judge Carder, 5; Governor George, 4; George, 3; Robert, 2; Thomas, I), was born December 5, 1761; died No— vember I, 1834. He was called Thomas C. Hazard, which was equivalent to Thomas, son of Carder; he was also called “ Fiddle—head Tom,” because of the peculiar shape of his head. He married, first, January 3, I790, Browning; he married, second, January 8, 1819., Eliza, daughter of Thomas Arnold, of Newport. His second wife was a beautiful and accomplished woman, and a great favorite in the society of her native town. Even in middle age she was much admired, especially by the young, who loved to listen to her tales of the gay life led in Newport, and read the notes and love—letters addressed to her by men whose names are historic. Two playing—cards are even now in existence,— one, the two—spot of clubs, bears, written on the back: “ Lord Percy asks the favour of Miss Eliza Arnold’s company to a Ball at the Crown Coffee House, on Saturday, the 18th of January, being His Majestie’s birthday.” On the back of a six—spot of clubs is written: “Lord % Howe’s compliments to you, and requests the fZW honour of your company to a Ball at the Assem— w bly Rooms on Monday, the 19th Instant." GEORGE HAZARD, 6 (Judge Carder, 5 ; Governor George, 4; George, 3; Robert, 2; Thomas, I), was born April 13, 1763; he died September 9.9, ‘1829. After a few years at school in Plainfield, Connecticut, he commenced the study of medicine under Judge Freeman Perry, who was a skilful physician and surgeon, as well as ajudge. He afterwards studied with DoctorJonathan Easton, of Newport, and after a regular course, was graduated at the Medical School in Philadelphia.
