part of the Bellevue property given to him by his father. He married Louisa

Hayden. In company with several others, he and all his family emigrated to

New Zealand, in the Brig Prime Edward, which sailed from Charlottetown,

November 30, 1858. After a residence in that country of nearly eighteen years,

he returned alone to his native land, arriving November 21, 1876. Broken in

health, he lived for some time at his old home, near the Harbor’s Mouth, and

died there, April 18, 1879. His remains lie in the burying ground of the Epis—

copal Church, Southport.

§ 803. CHARLES HASZARD, 7 (William, 6; Thomas, 5 ; Jonathan, 4; Thomas, 3 ; Robert, 2; Thomas, 1), was born at Bellevue, Prince Edward Island, February 29, 1812; he died June 4, 1862. At the time of his death he was a member of the Legislative Council (the Upper House) of the Province, and for a quarter ofa century previously, had been one of the most active magistrates in Queens County. He was also a Commissioner of small debts, and for a term filled the oflfice of High Sherifi'of his County. As one of the leading agriculturists of the County for many years, he took an aétive part in the affairs of the Royal Agricultural Society,” and was at different times its President and Vice—President. Having a natural aptitude and skill in the management of the sick, and success in curing diseases, he for some years practiced medicine, and his premature death was in some measure attributed to his exposing himself both night and day to the inclemency ofthe weather. Fewmen have departed this life moregenerallyesteemed and regretted. He resided at Bellevue and died there. He is buried in the church— yard of the Episcopal Church, Southport. He married, November 28, 1843, at Eska, Margaret, daughter of Francis Longworth; she died August 29, 1881. CHILDREN
