An active and zealous member of the Church of England, he was for many years the eflicient warden of S. Paul’s Church. He was very desirous that his native Island should have the advantage ofa resident Bishop instead ofdepending on the occasional visits of the Bishop of Nova Scotia. His sudden death at the com— paratively early age of fifty—nine years, prevented the carrying out of his plans, and, as he left no successor sufficiently enthusiastic on the subject, the Bishopric still remains in abeyance.
