In thegobituary notice of Mr. Hazard it was said,“ He was a keen, active man of afl'airs, of excellent judgment, cautious, yet sure, in laying and developing plans for the advancement of his business interests; an honest man, faithful, jovial, kindly and affectionate.” He married, December 25, I843, Lydia S,

daughter of William and Abby Pierce; she died March 29 9, I892, surviving her husband but three days. “ She was loved by all who knew her, a true helpmeet to her husband for nearly fifty years, zealous in every good work. The example she set as an earnest Christian woman will live in the hearts and lives of many.” CHILDREN

§ 1151. ROBERTSON HAZARD, 7 (Freeborn, 6; Gideon, 5; Robert, 4; Jeremiah, 3; Robert, 2; Thomas, 1), was born August 27, 1785; he married, December 20, 1816, Elizabeth Marshall. She was daughter of Benjamin and Nancy Marshall. He dwelt in North Kingstown on a part of the farm of his great—great— grandfather, Jeremiah Hazard, about one mile north of Wamsley Hill, on the old post— —road. He died August 16, 1871, his widow died Decem— ber 12,1883.
