§ 1175. WILLIAM B. HAZARD, 8 (William, 7; Robert, 6 ; Thomas, 5 ; Robert, 4.; Thomas, 3; Robert, 2; Thomas, I), was born March 20, 1843, at North F errisburg, Vermont. He went to the war when nineteen years of age, but exposure in the field brought on paralysis of the legs. This compelled a change in his plans for life, and he studied medicine, first at Monmouth, Illinois, then at Chicago, and finally graduated at Bellevue Hospital, New York City. After grad— uating, he became assistant physician at the Flatbush (Long Island) Hospital. He went to St. Louis in I 866. For a number ofyears he was Superintendent of the St. Louis Insane Asylum, and afterward consulting physician at the City Hospital, and a professor at the St. Louis College of Physicians and Surgeons, a position which he resigned in 1887. He was editor of The Clinic Record and a contrib— utor for many medical publications. He died March 17, 1888. He married, April 21, 1868, Gertrude M. Holmes, of Charlotte, Vermont. Mr. Hazard died in St. Louis.
