§ 1285. CHRISTOPHER GRANT HAZARD, 8 (Sylvester, 7; Thomas A., 6 ; George, 5 ; George, 4; Thomas, 3 ; Robert, 2 ; Thomas, I), was born in New— port, Rhode Island. Early in life he entered the Chemist’s shop of his uncle, Doctor Rowland Hazard, and after attaining his majority, opened a shop on his own account. Later he removed to Brooklyn, New York. Here for many years he dispensed remedies to thousands, and was noted for his conscientious admin- istration of medicine. To the poor and needy he gave freely. He did not leave a fortune to his family, but a name that his children can call blessed. He died May 3 I, I 888.

He married, December 15, 1846, Eliza Gardiner Coggeshall.
