of that in St. Dunstan's Cathedral. Charlottetown.

Over the altar is a painting of the Crucifixion. painted by Plamondon. a Quebec artist. It is a copy of Vandyke's masterpiece. The church was dedicated to

St. George and opened for public service on 29 September 1860. It is abundantly and richly supplied with everything necessary for the proper performance of all the sacred rites usual in a country parish.

Close by stands the spacious parochial residence. built shortly after the church was opened. where Father Francis dispenses true Highland hospitality to the many friends who flock to visit him in the retirement of his declining years. for since 1876, when the venerable clergyman gave up the parish of Georgetown, he

as resided at St. George's and devoted himself to the descendants of his early arishoners.

ear to the presbytery is a very beautiful grove. which has a more than local celebrity.

0n old Launching Point. close to the site of the little log chapel is the origaal cemetery of the mission. When the second church was built a new burial plot

was opened. and here internments were made until somewhere about 186“ when the cemetery now in use. was Opened. Most of the first settlers were buried in the plot by the little log hhapel the last being the wife of the pioneer Donald McCormaek who. beloved and respected by all. lived to a good old age. having

survived her husband thirty five years.
