REVEREND THOMAS McGINNIS, O. CARM. Father McGinnis is a native of Brooklyn , New York . After studies at the Angelicum in Rome and at Catholic University in Washington, he was ordained a priest in the Carmelite Order in 1952. For the next twenty years his principal work was parish ministry: twelve years as curate, eight years as pastor. Along with parochial ministry, Father McGinnis combined certain part-time positions: editor of a Carmelite magazine publication, lecturer in theology at Marymount-Manhattan College; he also completed his graduate studies at the Catholic University. In 1972 Father McGinnis began three years of work in the Liturgical Renewal of Parishes, and he spent almost half of that time among the parishes of Prince Edward Island . In 1975, he was appointed Spiritual Director at St . Joseph's Carmelite Seminary in Washington , D.C. In 1976, while remaining Spiritual Director, he was named Prior of the Community, a post he holds at present. Father McGinnis officially opened the Centennial Year of St . Joachim's Parish, Vernon River and preached the centennial mission.
