Reverend Wilfred Dunphy — 1904- Reverend Wilfred Dunphy was born in Millview on August 17, 1904, the son of Albert Dunphy and Mary Wright . He attended High School and College, and while there was noted for his skill both in playing football and pranks. He made his theological course at St . Augustine's Seminary , Toronto and was ordained to the Priesthood at Vernon River in 1931 by Bishop O'Sullivan. Following his ordination, he served in the Diocese of Regina during the depression years. In 1942 he joined the R.C.A.F . and served overseas until the end of the war in both France and Germany. He was decorated by the French Government with the Croix de Guerre (avec palme) but with characteristic humility, he refused this honor. At Belsen concentration camp, he participated with chaplains of other de- moninations at the mass interment and burial services. Upon his return to Canada , Father Dunphy was one of seven chap¬ lains who continued with the R.C.A.F. He served in both the Halifax and Trenton area as Command Chaplain of Air Transport Command until his retirement in 1959 at the age of fifty-five. Following his retirement from the R.C.A.F ., he was appointed Parish Priest of Batawa, Ontario . In June, 1975, he suffered a stroke and is presently residing in the Lodge, Trenton, Ontario . The respect which Father Dunphy was always given is indicated by the fact that both Catholic and public high schools in the area offer yearly scholarships in his name. Even in his retirement, he continues his Apostolate among the retired by offering mass, visiting and counselling. Reverend James Lewis — 1890-1945 Reverend James Lewis was born at Alberry Plains , the son of Jackson Lewis and . He joined the Vincentian Order and served his ministry in California . He died in 1945. Reverend Fred Lewis — 1895-1947 Reverend Fred Lewis , the son of Alex Lewis and Regina Hayley , was born at Glencoe in 1895. He belonged to a Religious Order in the States. He died in 1947 in New Orleans. 58
