As the years went by, in spite of serious and frequent appeals for new members, the numbers declined.

The Presbyterian Church in Canada recommended that there should be only one women's organization, where devotional periods and study were included in the agenda. Now I quote from the WMB Annual Report 1971:
During the year, various discussions on the uniting of all women of the congregation as "Presbyterian Women" were held, with Dr. McCuaig and Miss Goss, deaconess, giving help on the subject. This will mean that the WMS as such will cease to exist, but it is felt that, if the overall purpose of .involving more women in missions can be achieved, the end result will be a more important and continuing accomplishment.
At the December meeting it was decided to try this amalgamation for one year, and at the end of that time, assess the situation and come to a decision.
As the WMS will be in abeyance for one year, the same officers' names will stand; and we pray the blessing of Almighty God on our new venture - Presbyterian Women.
