In 1994, Clifton Church was recognized as a heritage building by the P.E.I. Museum and Heritage Foundation. To mark the 25th anniversary of the incorporation of the community of Bunbury, the community council paid for the heritage plaque to be placed on the church exterior. A dedication ceremony was held on Sunday, October 15, 1994. Community Council Chairman, John Kenny, presented the plaque to the descendants of the original church members. The ceremony was held on the Sunday closest to the 146th anniversary of the date on the deed marking the purchase of the property. In attendance were direct descendants of all

signatories of the 1848 deed.

This historic church is one of the oldest church buildings now used by the United Church on Prince Edward Island. Services are held every Sunday from early June until early September.
