10 History of Valley field and 1909—The present beautiful church was built, by contract for the sum of $4,875, and opened for Divine Service on December 26th, 1909. The pulpit was donated by Mrs. MacLean , in memory of her husband the late Rev. Roderick MacLean who ministered to the con¬ gregation from 1885 to 1906. The bell is the gift of the late Sir Andrew MacPhail in memory of his father, grandfather and great grandfather and the pulpit chair was donated by the late Hon. D. A. MacKinnon , former Lieutenant Governor of the Province. Ministers The following is the list of the ministers who occupied the various Valleyfield pulpits:— 1845-1850 — Rev. A. MacLellan . 1928-1936 — Rev. D. MacLean Sinclair. 1936- Rev. Arthur Ebbutt , the present incumbent. Glebe During his ministry in Douse's Road, Mr. Maclntyre lived in the Clearings, opposite the present Grandview School, with the family of Donald Martin . When Mr. Munro came he lived for a few months here also, thence he removed to Beer's Mill and later to the farm owned by John Bruce at Brown's Creek. In 1853 the congregation purchased the farm nearest the church, on the west side, for the use of the minister. The pro¬ perty was held on lease by John MacDonald , from Mr. Douse . Mr. MacDonald sold his lease for nine pounds. In that year the sum of four pounds four shillings and six pence was sub¬ scribed to the Manse Fund. Later the property was exchanged for that of John MacDonald and a manse built thereon. This old manse, as well as the present and the intervening one is still standing. Session The first meeting of the session of the Free Church Con¬ gregation, Brown's Creek, under Mr. Munro , was held in the church on Douse's Road, on March 3, 1851, with the follow¬ ing sederunt: Rev.
