Kensington Hall Sunday School was also in a thriving state with Col. F. S. Moore as Superintendent . With him were eleven dedicated teachers. The receipts for that year totaled $2,516.52. The "Organ- Blower" received $21.00 for his work and the Caretaker's salary was $350.00 for eleven months. The pew rentals brought in $1,382.00. The contributions were by envelope. No names were published but No. 84 gave the largest amount which was $58.50. There was a balance however, for the year of $534.44. Thirteen Sunday School Scholars united with the church during the year. In the report of the Epworth League Society's activities, Mr. E. E. Jordan says that "Helpful and entertaining Literary Evening have been given to the Congregation which were greatly enjoyed. Mrs. Henry Smith directed these Literary Evenings". This was Mr. Young 's last year and a Unanimous Resolution of deep appreciation, which was heartily endorsed by the Quarterly Board, was tendered to him and his wife for their dedicated work during the years of his ministry. Dr. William Dobson , who came to the church in 1904, is remembered as an outstanding preacher. Tall, and of slight build, he made an impressive figure in his frock-coat as he stood on the platform and delivered his sermons without manuscript or notes. The pulpit was removed and only a table was left, so that he was free to walk back and forth as he spoke. The highest seats in the gallery were crowded, especially in the evenings by young people and students from the schools and colleges and others who flocked to these services. Mrs. Dobson was short and petite and her sister, Miss Annie Morehouse lived in the parsonage with the family — a son, Eldon and a daughter Ethel. Mrs. Austin Scales is a relative of Dr. Dobson and had a reunion with her cousin Ethel a year or so ago. Mrs. Scales is at present an active member of the choir. In his report Dr. Dobson mentions that "Special services were held during the winter which proved a blessing to many of the church members and were helpful to all". At that time the membership was four hundred and sixty. The total receipts for that year amounted to about $3,400.00. The Sunday School staff included W. W. Stanley and Arthur Smith , Superintendents, T. W. Balderson, Secretary, and G. H. Hol- brook, Acting Treasurer The Hall Superintendent was Edmund T. Higgs , with Miss Maria Moore , Treasurer .
