ON ACTIVE SERVICE FOR COUNTRY AND FOR CHURCH

Nor has Trinity been unmindful of her sons and daughters who volunteered for Active Service in the Armed Forces. Just as you enter the Church in the vestibule is a large plaque containing the following inscription: “This tablet is erected by this Church in grate- ful memory of the heroism of the herein named members of the congregation who enlisted to participate in the Great War 1914-1918. Then follows a list of some 161 names. Alongside this is a scroll containing the names of 328 members of Trinity who volunteered for Active Service with Canada’s Fighting Forces in the Second World War.

On the north wall of the main auditorium is erected a brass tablet with the following inscription:

“In Memoriam: Private Roland Dennis Taylor killed in action at Paardeberg, South Africa. 18th February, 1900 aged 22 years. Private Alfred Riggs, killed in action at Paardeberg, South Africa. 27th February, 1900 aged 22 years. This tablet is erected by the officers, non—commissioned officers and men of the Charlottetown Engineer Company in Honour of their dear comrades”.

On the south wall of the Church is erected a bronze tablet bearing the following inscription:

“Trinity United Church —— Charlottetown. The organ and this tablet have been placed in this Church in sacred memory of the men of this congregation who gave their lives in the world war 1939—1945, in the Korean War, and in Honour of those who served therein”.
