Dr. McVean was a thoughtful and independent writer, and contrib- uted many articles to leading magazines. His writings dealt almost ex- clusively with international subjects. He never sought publicity for its own sake. The platform had few attractions for him. He was a teach- er. Whether in the class-room or through the medium of the press, he was always the. scholarly, convincing teacher. He was one of Prince Ed- ward Island’s great minds, and one of Acadia’s outstanding scholars.
