CEHE following pages are a modest attempt to preserve a brief out- line of the history of the Kingsboro Church, prince Edward Island, Canada. The task, though a pleasing one, was beset by many dif-

ficulties: (l) The standing committee and the editors were so widely separated that consultation on doubtful points was always tedious, and often impossible. (Z) The editors’ work was often delayed because the church records were not available except by correspondence, and besides, some of the records were destroyed by fire.

The original scope of the History has been extended so as to include portraits and personal sketches of men and women who had been prom- inent in the church or who had acquired success in other fields. While this increased space involved additional expense, the additional cost was covered by the generous contributions of interested friends.

Hearty thanks are due to the standing committee for prompt co- operation and diligent effort in collecting historic material, and in many ways assisting in preparing a reliable record of the influence and develop— ment of the church during its one hundred years of history.

Special acknowledgement is hereby recorded regarding the valuable aid rendered by the secretary of the committee, Mrs. Merrill Stewart and Mrs. Bertha Robertson for enthusiastic ellorts in securing and confirm- ing many local events and incidents that add interest to the history.

To the editors the work has been a labor of love; and they indulge the hope that the reading of this centennial story and the personal sket- ches, may bring as much pleasure to the church and its friends as the writing of it has brought to the editors.

P.S.—Since the above was written my beloved co-writer laid down his pen forever, (Feb. lst, 1932) and passed on to receive the uwell done, good and faithful servant". I have endeavoured to complete the work as we planned it but it misses "the touch of his vanished hand.” We would have been pleased to have given fuller account of those mentioned only briefly here and to have mentioned others, and to have inserted more pic- tures, but data and suitable photographs were not procurable and money for printing lacking. Though much care has been given this history, some slight errors may have escaped notice at the time to correct them.
