HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE EAST POINT BAPTIST CHURCH REV . A. C. SHAW . 1894-18% Mr. Shaw was a young man of attractive personality, greatly be¬ loved by young and old. His two and one-half years at Kingsboro church won him many friends and brought to the church marked success. A young man of fine spirit, a good pastor, a strong preacher, his pros¬ pects were bright for large usefulness and successful years in the work he loved; but throat and lung trouble cut short a life that promised so veil. He died a few years after leaving East Point , but his memory is still cherished by all who knew him. He was ordained on this field. Twenty-eight were added to the church. The Association was held here, 1894. Dr. DeWolfe was in attend¬ ance. During this pastorate, before Mr. Shaw was ordained, Rev. H. G. Mellick , on one of his visits, baptized a large number of converts. On several of his visits Mr. Mellick had baptisms. One of those baptized was Duncan Stewart , Jr., who was baptized in the river just below his own farm. He was over eighty years of age. 21
