HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE EAST POINT BAPTIST CHURCH DEACON JOHN MacVANE Mrs. MacVane is a granddaughter of Mrs. Kennedy , one of the heroines of the early history of the church. DEACON GEORGE ROBERTSON He was baptized by Rev. J. A. Gordon , 1878, ordained deacon Nov. 2nd, 1924, died March 27th, 1931, age sixty-nine years. He was one of God 's noblemen, an unassuming faithful servant of Jesus Christ. He gave liberally to the church and other Christian work. He left a legacy of $400.00 to the Forward Movement. By thrift and hard work he ac¬ cumulated a valuable estate. His wife was Margaret Mellick . They brought up two of her nieces, Mrs. T. J. Robertson and Mrs. Colin Dixon , who are a credit to their Christian life and faithfulness. 46
