HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE EAST POINT BAPTIST CHURCH REV . mi MRS . HENRY GEORGE MEI.LICK Henry George Mellick was born at Portage , now named Elmira, Prince Edward Island , August 11th, 1857. His father was John Mel ¬ lick and his mother Ann Rose . Horatio Ernest Morrow was bis first teacher. He wa s convertcc be great revival of 1874. Ata in the g two years later he was called to the gospel ministry. He began his pre¬ paration in the district schools. The last winter John A. Ford was his teacher. In the fall of 1880 he went to Horton Academy and matricu¬ lated the following spring, when he was appointed missionary to Mur¬ ray River, P. E. I. , for the summer and licensed to preach. In that aut¬ umn he entered Acadia College and the next summer was missionary at Musquash. N. B. He returned to Acadia and the next spring settled as pastor at Alberton and O'Leary , P. E. I. The fall of 1884 he went io McMaster College. Toronto , and graduated the next spring, when he went as a missionary to Manitoba . He reached the country in the midst of the great rebellion. He was ordained at Brandon, 1886. The fol¬ lowing spring he came east and married Miss Frances Elizabeth Wal ¬ lace, daughter of Rev. Isaiah Wallace , D.D. He was called to the pas- lorate of Brussels St . Church, St. John , N . B . . at that time. In 1889 ihe church granted him leave to take post graduate studies at Morgan 67
