His homely quaint illustrations were unforgettable. To illustrate the stupid feverishness in which so many peopl: rush after the allure- ments of the world, he told of one day seeing a goose dart out on the read, then dart back and forth until she was exhausted. H: thought she was crazy. On investigating he saw she was trying to catch a grass— hopper; just as she was about to pick it up, it made a jump to where she would again dart after it. to be disappointed as before.
