THE SECOND CENTURY IN THE BEGINNING In 1958 one of our older deacons, James E. Dingwell , felt a move should be made to keep our Church history up to date, by recording events since our Centennial, which was held in 1933 when the "His¬ torical Sketch of the East Point Baptist Church" was published. The following letter tells of this beginning. North Lake , July 5, 1958 Mrs. E. S. Rose East Baltic . Dear Mrs. Rose : As a congregation we have much to be thankful for at the moment, also great cause for rejoicing mingled with sadness for departed friends, and anxiety for others. Foremost amongst our reasons for giving thanks is the Church History handed down to us from never-to-be-forgotten friends, whose lives and influence stand out as a beacon light, worthy of emulation. In that connection I want to tell you of a visit I had with our pastor. Rev. H. R. Bell , who seems willing to write, if a Committee is appointed to assist in pointing out the outstanding events since the Centennial in 1933. Stuart MacGregor and Willard Ching are willing to assist. Mr. Bell asked me to act as Chairman, and with yourself, one or at the most two more, would be sufficient. Susie, Mrs. T. J. Robertson , as Church Clerk, would be in a position to supply first¬ hand information as to new members, time of admission, etc. Please give the matter immediate attention, and if necessary, write me at your convenience and I will report to Mr. Bell . Yours in His service, J. E. Dingwell .
