19 Rev. & Mrs. Arthur Willis THE PASTORATE OF REV . ARTHUR WILLIS 1971 In November of 1971 the Rev. Arthur Willis , who had been pastor of the North River field in Prince Edward Island , accepted the call to become the pastor of the East Point and Churches . Mr. Willis , who was ordained in England , came to the church with a rich and varied experience of pastoral work in the Old and British Columbia , as well as chaplaincy work in Africa during World War II. Since taking up his duties on this field Mr. Willis has proved him¬ self an able leader, and earnest and eloquent preacher of God 's Word, and a tireless worker. The youth group, called the " O.K ." Fellowship, was re-started with a fine group of enthusiastic teen-agers, and a Junior High group, known as the " L.I.G.H.T ." Fellowship, started. Later, a fine married- couples group was started, which brought into the church many who were outside. To celebrate Centennial Year and the 140th Anniversary of the church special meetings were arranged. Dr. Samuel Mikolaski , of Calgary, was the anniversary preacher. The Rev. Norman Archer , of Victoria, British Columbia , was the Conference speaker in July 1973. Some of the leaders of our Convention shared these services with us. One of the great encouragements of the past years has been the formation of the "Shalom Singers " from among the young people to share their faith with others through song. Another most gratifying development has been among the Cubs, which were started by the Rev. Frank Sinnott , D.D . in 1967. A trophy was offered to the Scout or Cub group on the Island that raised most money per box of apples for the annual "Apple Day." In all four years of its competition it has been won by our church Cub pack, this last year in a record fashion.
