21 1971, the W.M.S . completed 100 years of faithful ministry to what is now railed our Baptist Overseas Missions. Two very important anniversary meetings are recorded here: On May 22. 1951. the Missionary Society looked back with pride to eighty years of consecrated and devoted work for the cause of Foreign Missions. A banner at the front of the Church reminded the gathering that they had reached their 80th milestone in this worthy endeavor. The service was conducted by the President, Mrs. Colin Dixon , with Dr. Zella Clark , retired missionary and Provincial Secre¬ tary of the U.B.W.M.U ., and Mrs. T. G. Ives . Superintendent of Mission Bands for P.E.I. . as guest speakers. The hymns sung were: "Jesus Saves," "The Ninety and Nine," and "He's The One." Special music for the evening consisted of the selections. "Let the Song Go Round the Earth," by the Choir, and the solo. "The Stranger of Galilee," by Mrs. Stuart MacGregor . The Scripture, Romans 10, was read by Mrs. Carl Mac Vane, and prayer was offered by Mrs. T. G. Ives . A history of the Society was prepared by Mrs. Garfield Stewart and Mrs. E. S. Rose , and read by Mrs. Rose . Dr. Clark , garbed in the national costume of India, spoke from her rich experiences of 31 years in the Mission Fields of India, and held the rapt attention of her audience and urged all to "Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth laborers into His fields." At the close of her address Dr. Clark presented the president with a birthday card commemorating the 80th anniversary and requested that the names of members eighty years and older be written thereon. Mrs. Ives , a native daughter of this locality, spoke of her work as Mission Band Superintendent and urged the members of the Society to greater faithfulness. At the close of the addresses the president made mention of the fact that in the audience was Mrs. Garfield Stewart whose record of 57 years as a faithful and devoted member was worthy of special note. Mrs. Stewart , in reply, spoke of her happy association with the Society, and with Dr. Clark . At the close of the service the benedic¬ tion was pronounced by Rev. II . R. Bell . On May 22, 1961. the ninetieth anniversary of the W.M.S ., was observed with a meeting in the Church. Miss Mildred Law . Mission¬ ary to India, on furlough, was the guest speaker, and there w.is a large attendance. The World Wide Guild formed the choir and fur¬ nished the music for this special occasion.
