She was not a stranger to this Church, as she, with Miss Violet Lutwig , had conducted our first D.V.B.S ., in 1950, and the many friends she had made on that occasion were happy to renew the acquaintance. A paper, prepared by a member, Mrs. Alberta Rose , and read by Mrs. Ervin Robertson , recalled our past years and gave the names of the Charter Members, whose hearts had been burdened with the great need of raising funds to help send missionaries to India. Thus it was our Women 's Missionary Society had its beginning in this Church. For Missionary study periods in our meetings, we have used the programs prepared by the members. We had one member of the Group each month take the alloted subject and do the research her¬ self. There have been many interesting and informative programs, wonderfully well presented in which the subject of missions and its needs, was shown to us in a way we could not forget. Of late years, we have gone back to using the programs prepared by the U.B.W.M.U. The Society assists with the Annual Baby Band parties, the C.G.I.T. Banquets , and takes an occasional Church service in the absence of the pastor. In 1964, the W.M.S . had the happy privilege of catering to the Island Association, assisted by the Christian Women 's Fellowship of South Lake , and the W.W.G . in our new Church basement. 1967 — Mrs. Garfield Stewart , now in her ninety-first year, has been a member of this Society for seventy-three years. At a regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Russell Garrett , her birthday was marked by the giving of a piece of jewellery, also an address in remembrance of her many years of faithful service. While cradling a beautiful birthday cake on her lap. her picture was taken completing the observance of another milestone in a long life. In 1968. Mrs. Stewart passed her 92nd birthday in the in Montague, where on that occasion, her pastor. Rev. Frank Sinnott , and a few friends, called upon her to wish her many happy returns. In .August 1970. the Society observed the Maria Norris Anniversary with a pageant, "Fast Point 100 Years Ago," commemorating our first attempt to organize a Women 's Foreign Missionary Society. This pageant was written by Mrs. Flmer Fraser. a member for 61 years.
