28 In January 19 12. during Rev. 11. R. Bell 's pastorate, Mrs. Clinton Stewart was appointed organist and still holds this position (1973). A great many members have occupied places in the choir loft. Four of these, our male quartet, viz. Robert Rose , Harold Hunter , Wilbur Jarvis and Kenneth MacGregor , have faithfully attended the choir practice and choir for a longer period of time than any other mem¬ ber. This quartet sang not only in our own church but also in several churches across the province. They were always accompanied by their own organist. At other times the full choir assisted in other churches on special occasions including Evangelistic and Thanks¬ giving services. In 1949 or 1950, Mrs. Ethel MacLean assisted by directing the singing and her help was much appreciated. Several successful Sacred Concerts were held throughout the years in our own church as well as in others. Rev. M. O. Smith organized "Hymn Sings" in the church basement after the regular Sunday evening service with the choir leading. Many visitors often shared this service in song with us. Our first junior and youth choirs were organized while Rev. and Mrs. Frank Mollins were on this field on June 12, 1959 with an attendance of 28 members aged 9 to 14 years. The male quartet and full choir have sung to the older people and to the shut-ins. One of these was Joshua MacDonald who was an outstanding bass singer and valued member of the choir for many many years. The last time the choir visited him during the winter of 1967, although he had passed his 89th birthday and his sight was failing, he still joined in singing all the selections with the choir remembering the words of the hymns much better than those who were younger. On December 8, 1962 a new Pearson organ was presented to the church in memory of Alvin Robertson by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John VY . Robertson. It was dedicated December 2,']. 1962. John has also assisted the choir on several occasions by recording the selections sung by the members during their practices. While Rev. Smith was working on this field, choir gowns were donated by a Baptist Church in Mass. , U.S.A .. through Mr. and Mrs. Fred Selwyn . In July 1966 new gowns and caps were presented to the choir by the Montgomery Family in memory of their sister, Mrs. Raleigh Bruce. In most cases the ministers and'or their wives were able to assist many limes in the music. Mrs. Watterworth , Mrs. McClare , Mrs.
