Rev. and Mrs. Willis were married 40 years on September 28. 1975. On October 5th the congregation of both churches celebrated this anniversary by having a social hour in the church basement after the evening service at Kingsboro.

Kenneth MacGregor was chairman for the occasion and after a short hymn sing. Stuart and Martha MacGregor escorted the honored couple. Rev. and Mrs. Willis. to a special seat. Kenneth then called on leaders of various or- ganizations for remarks and gifts. A pleasant hour was brought to a close by singing “Blest Be the Tie That Binds.“ after which Rev. Willis pronounced the benediction.

1975 Chester MacPhail

Chester MacPhail. aged 20. from New Dominion. P.E.I. came to our area as an assistant to Rev. Arthur Willis on October 12. 1975. A special induction service was held in Dundas Baptist Church the same afternoon. Chester was to have the services at Dundas and Annandale Baptist Churches as well as helping with the Cubs. Light Fellowship and Shalom Singers at the East Point United Baptist Church. Chester stayed until June 1976 and did an excellent job of taking over the services in both churches during our pastor‘s absence in Bermuda. He was married June 1979 at Truro to Debbie Knowles (grand- daughter of Rev. Myron O. Brinton and daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Knowles).

New Hymn Books

At the annual meeting in January 1975. a discussion took place on the need for new hymn books. It was agreed that representatives from the church organizations study various books and make a recommendation to the church. As a result copies of “Great Hymns of the Faith” were secured. Many of these books were bought by individuals and families as memorial gifts.

Special Program

A sacred concert was presented in the church at Kingsboro on July 27. 1975 in aid of the Souris Hospital. Collection amounted to over $400. The Senior Choir. Shalom Singers. The Pronks. Explorers, The Harris Family. MacDonald- Munroe Quartet. and Mr. and Mrs. Elsinga provided the music. Including those who came to the ”Drive-In" service. about 500 attended. In August 1975. four members were added to the church.

1976 Rev. and Mrs. Willis in Bermuda

On January 2. 1976. Rev. and Mrs. Willis left by plane for Bermuda where they spent three weeks. Rev. Willis had developed a throat problem and his doctor advised him not to do any preaching for some time.

Special Services During June of 1976 special services were held with Bill Andrews as guest speaker. Special music was supplied by the Senior Choir. the Shalom Singers and the New Christian Singers.
