M , PROPERTY OF U.P.E.l. LIBRARY FOREWORD This book had its origin in the preliminary research which was started in 1979 in connection with the 100th Anniversary of the Miminegash United Church Building. As a result of those earlier studies, so much material was gathered about the churches in western Prince County, that it was decided to make a permanent record for future generations. While we have researched diligently for five years, we do not assume that this is all there is to know about the religious lives and customs of our ancestors. For that reason, we invite interested writers and researchers to continue these studies. There is still opportunity to know more about the Methodists, the Presbyterians, and the Bible Christians on provincial and local levels. In the meanwhile, we have stopped some of the erosion of facts, dates, and events connected with these churches, and this may be the most important contribution of this book. The project for this publication was directed by the Campbellton — Miminegash United Church Fellowship in association with The New Horizon’s Program of Health and Welfare Canada. The directors of the project were: Vance MaCKay, Lois Maclnnis, Allan Shaw, Mary Cousins, Bertha Palmer, George MacKay, Georgie Mclnnis, Robert Shaw, Barbara Rix, and Hilda Ellsworth.
