With the chairman of the meeting, Rev. Russell, allowing ample time for a thorough discussion, it was proposed to build a hall attached to the back of the church twenty-five feet wide (same as the church) and thirty-two feet long. Jock Rix donated ten cords of wood for lumber. Other donations of wood came from Fenton Shaw and Robert E. Maclnnis. The twenty-two people present included: The Rev. Stewart B. Russell, Eleanor Murray, Alfred Smith, Ada Shaw, Robert Shaw, Donald Waite, Ronald Costain, Lorna Costain, Emily Ellsworth, Jock Rix, Lila Rix, Harry MacKay, Georgie McInnis, Fenton Shaw, Ruth Goss, Robert E. Maclnnis, Lois Maclnnis, Hilda Ellsworth, Stanford Green, Vance MacKay and Warren Goss. Upon a successful application for building funds from The Canada Community Development and Immigration Commission, Miminegash United Church was granted the sum of $35,000. The building project started on December 1, 1981 and without frost, the foun- dation was soon completed. The crew in the woods consisted of John McInnis as foreman, Wade Mannis, Harry Murray, and Francis Murphy. Eleanor Murray started her work as secretary. The work was supposed to be finished by July, 1982 and that deadline was reached by special efforts on the part of the workers. On August 10, 1982 a meeting of the Building Committee and the Community was called to inspect the new hall and the arrangement of the hall itself, the kitchen, and the toilet. Those present were: Robert E. Maclnnis, Chairman of the meeting, Lois Maclnnis, Russell McInnis, Georgie McInnis, John McInnis, Hilda Ellsworth, Eleanor Murray, Alfred Smith, Vera Smith, Jock Rix, Allen Shaw, Ross MacKay, Donald Waite, Ruth G055, and Warren Goss. It was decided to obtain prices for sinks, materials for cupboards, and the use of a well-digging machine. Two days later, the digging of the well started on August 12, 1982. The first time that the new church hall was used for a community purpose was on Monday, September 27, 1982 when the hall became the Polling Station for the Provincial Election. Another church meeting was called on October 13, 1982 to make further decisions regarding the furnishings of the new hall. Attending this meeting were Robert E. Maclnnis, Lois Maclnnis, Alfred Smith, Russell McInnis, Barbara Rix, Jock Rix, Ruth G055, and Warren Goss. It was voted to purchase enough legs to make four tables and to get prices of the cost of labor to have the cupboards built. The first social meeting in the new church hall was held on Thursday, June 2, 1983 with the following people present: Lois Maclnnis, Robert E. Maclnnis, Goldie York, Vance MacKay, Rev. Stewart B.
