During the evening, donations of new dishes and kitchenware, as well as money were received to help equip the kitchen in the new church hall. With the additional money, it was decided to purchase fifteen more plates.

The first Ice Cream Social was held in the new church hall on August 25, 1983 which raised the sum of $60.00. A second Ice Cream Social was scheduled for Labor Day, September 5, 1983 and $55.00 was received from the sale of food. Both socials

were sponsored by the St. Lawrence Ladies’ Club-

23. DEDICATION OF THE MIMINEGASH CHURCH HALL

After weeks of careful preparation by members of the Miminegash United Church for the dedication of the New Church Hall, June 19, 1983 arrived with thick clouds and heavy showers that followed a night of intermittent thunder and lightn-

The weather proved to be no deterrent, and an overflow congregation of one hundred and fifty people filled the church and hall, eagerly waiting to hear the sermon of dedication by the Rev. Robert A. Crooks, President of the United Church Maritime Conference. The guest speaker was introduced by the Rev. Stewart B. Russell, pastor of the Alberton and Elmsdale Pastoral Charge.
