Rev. Robert A. Crooks, pastor of the Bethany United Church, Halifax, NS. spoke not only during the morning service in the Miminegash United Church at 11:00 am. but also in the Montrose United Church at 7:30 p.m. He was born in Sydney, N.S. where he received his early education. After high school graduation,
he studied music and was awarded the degree of Associate in Music by McGill University.
His later education included Prince of Wales College, Charlottetown, P.E.I., a BA. degree from Dalhousie University in 1956, and a Master of Divinity degree from Pine Hill Divinity Hall, Halifax, NS. in 1958.
The first pastoral assignment for the Rev. Robert A. Crooks was the Montrose, P.E.I. Pastoral Charge, including Miminegash, Elmsdale, and Campbellton, where he served from 1958 to 1961. Since then, he served as pastor in churches in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The Rev. Crooks married the former Marjorie MacLean and there are four children: James, Cathie, Chris, and Tim.
In his introduction of the Rev. Robert A. Crooks, the Rev. Stewart B. Russell also gave a summary of events leading to the construction of the New Church Hall.
