John Goldsmith was the minister of the Methodist Circuit of Tyne Valley, Bideford, Lot 13, from 1878 to 1881. It was while in this circuit that his first child, Violet Eveline Goldsmith, was born on December 17, 1880. In 1881, Rev. Goldsmith’s sister from the Isle of Man, Margaret Ann Goldsmith, aged 22, was living with the family in P.E.I. In September, 1881, Rev. John Goldsmith moved to Nashwaak Village, N.B. where his second daughter, Mabel Eleanor Goldsmith was born in June, 1882. In 1884, he moved to Andover, N.B. where he preached in lumber camps as well as in the local church. From 1885 to 1887, he was again in Mount Stewart, P.E.I. On November 19, 1886, a son, Oliver Wright Goldsmith, was born to Rev. and Mrs. Goldsmith. The baby was baptised on July 23, 1887 but lived only a short time, dying in 1889 from spinal meningitis, Because of the similarity of names, it is wondered if the Rev.
