in the homes of his congregations were outstanding. To go into his home was a privilege and the visitor went away feeling that real strength had come from Mr. Chapman’s advice and comfort. ”32 REV. JAMES FREDERICK ROWLEY 1903 - 1904 “The Rev. James F. Rowley was born in Birmingham, England, on August 24, 1880, the son of Frederick and Caroline (Watkins) Rowley. He received his early education there, and came to Canada in 1903 and entered Mount Allison Univerity. As a young man and still a student in Mount Allison University, he was a supply minister in the O’Leary Circuit, P.E.I., including Miminegash, from 1903 to 1904. He was ordained at Derby, New Brunswick in 1907, to the Methodist ministry, and served it and the United Church in Gaspe, Quebec; in Derby, Millstream, Hampton, Campbellton, Pointe de Bute, Stanley, Boistown, Minto, Oromocto, ‘ Gagetown, New Brunswick; in Ireland Island, Bermuda; in Barrington, North East Harbour and Aspen-East River — St. Mary’s, Nova Scotia. Following his retire- ment he made his home at Long Reach, New Brunswick, and served that charge for seven years, and was in charge of the new congregation at Glen Falls for five years during which time the work was consolidated and the new Glen View Church built. He died in Lancaster after failing health on February 15, 1962. Interment was made in family lot at Pointe du Bute. He is survived by two sons and a daughter. Rev. Mr. Rowley was a much-beloved minister whose judgment, humour and kindness endeared him to his people, and he lives in the lives of those whom he knew and influenced.”33 REV. LEON HAROLD JEWETT 1905 “The Rev. L. H. Jewett was born in Waterville, New Brunswick, on August 2nd, 1879, and received his early education there. He then entered the Provincial Normal College at Fredericton, from which he graduated in 1898. After teaching for a number of years in the public schools of New Brunswick, he entered Mount Allison University for Arts and Theology and graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts. In 1905, Rev. Jewett was the supply minister in the O’Leary Circuit P.E.I., in- cluding Miminegash. He was ordained on June 20th, 1909, in the Methodist Church at Woodstock, N.B., by the New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island Conference of the Methodist Church.
