and Eudie Baker Sheen. The family moved from the West to O’Leary, P.E.I. where he attended school from 1914 to 1926. He also attended high school in Summerside and Prince of Wales College from 1927 - 1929. He taught school in Mt. Pleasant, P.E.I., in 1929 - 1930. The family moved to Summerside in 1930. He attended Mt. Allison in Sackville in 1930 and was graduated in 1934. During the summer holidays he worked at Holman’s. In 1935 he became student missionary at Knee Hill Valley, Alberta. He attend Pine Hill Divinity College 1934-1936 and was ordained in June, 1936, at Sackville, N.B. He then supplied at Alberton, P.E.I. for ten weeks. He was married on July 6, 1936 at Trinity United Church, Summerside, to Edna May Singleton, formerly from Mass., USA. On July 7, 1936, they left P.E.I., under the Home Mission Board, for Braken, Saskatchewan for one year, then were posted to Piapot, returning home in 1938 when he received a call to Wallace, NS. Rev. John M. Sheen was the minister in the Montrose Pastoral Charge, P.E.I., from 1948 to 1954. At that time, Miminegash was a part of that charge. In a recent letter, Rev. Sheen wrote, “We held revival services in the Montrose Pastorate in 1950 and again in 1951 with the Rev. Elmer Crockett of Rantoul. Illinois, formerly from Alma, P.E.I. These services were well-attended, and we had many converts. It was during my time in the Montrose Pastorate about 1952, that they began to plough the roads in winter. That ended the horse era.” Other charges he served are West Cape, P.E.I., Shediac, N.B., Vernon, Mt. Stewart, P.E.I., Salisbury, N.B., Jacksonville, N.B., then Port Marien and Donkin in 1970-73. He retired in 1973. After retirement he supplied many pulpits and preached until his call to higher service came. He leaves to mourn their great loss, his wife, Edna, also his sons, George, C.F. Base, Summerside and Allan of Woodstock, N.B., their wives and four grand- children; his sister, Dorothy, Mrs. Lewis Bernard, O’Leary, P.E.I., also a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a son, John Matthew, Jr., also three brothers, Gerald, Roland and Eric. REV. M. ALEXANDER MacDOWELL 1954 - 1956 Rev. M. Alexander MacDowell’s home was in Pleasant Valley, Prince Edward Island, where he lived before studying for the ministry. He is a graduate of the Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax, Nova Scotia with the degree of Bachelor of Theology and was ordained by the Alberta Conference for the Maritime Conference on June 4,1954. Rev. MacDowell also attended Dalhousie University, the University of Alberta, and St. Stephen’s Theological College in Edmonton, Alberta. The following pastorates have been served by the Rev.
