REV. ROBERT A. CROOKS 1859 - 1961
Rev. Robert A. Crooks was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia and received his early education there. After high school graduation, he studied music full time and obtained an Associate in Music Degree from McGill University.
In 1951, he was the organist at The First Baptist Church, Charlottetown, RBI. and taught privately in Charlottetown, P.E.l. as well as in one of the public schools ofthat city.
Upon being called to the ministry, Rev. Crooks enrolled in Prince of Wales College, Charlottetown, P.E.1. where he studied the Arts Course for two years, graduating in 1954. In 1956, he had completed his studies at Dalhousie University, Halifax, N.S., and was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Arts. Rev. Crooks was graduated in Theology from Pine Hill Divinity Hall, Halifax, N.S. in 1958 with a Master of Divinity Degree. He was ordained by the Maritime Conference on June 15, 1958.
Rev. Robert A. Crooks served in the Montrose, P.E.I. Pastoral Charge, which
included Miminegash and Campbellton, from 1959 to 1961. From 1961 to 1966, Rev. Crooks served in Cardinal, Ontario; from 1966 to 1970, his pastorate was the United Church in Belleville, Ontario; from 1970 to 1977, he served in St. John’s United Church, Moncton, N.B., and presently, Rev. Crooks is the Senior Minister in Bethany United Church, Halifax, N.S.
