Henry Clark Milton Costain Thursa Costain — Organist for the Sunday School Blanche Crockett According to church tradition, certain individuals were trained to use tuning forks to make sure that most people kept in tune singing the hymns. The advent of the organ in the churches was very controversial and the Bible was searched to find reasons for and against the installation of the organ as a part of the worship service. In the Alberton Methodist Church, Benjamin Rogers was successful in introducing the organ instead of the tuning fork only after seven persistent years surrounded by bitter controversy from within the congregation with some members resigning from the body of the church as a result of the strong emotions aroused.
