Methodists had reunited their churches and in Milburn, the new church building symbolized the unity of the congregation. The Milburn Methodist Church had continued to prosper through the years and improvements were made including the purchase of a new organ on September 10, 1913. A meeting of the Milburn Methodists and the West Point Presbyterians was held on January 11, 1927 to discuss moving the Milburn Methodist Church to Glenwood. The reason the meeting was called resulted from the fact that the Methodists and some Presbyterians had joined the United Church in 1925. The re- maining Presbyterians had kept their original church building. The Milburn Methodists and the West Point Prebyterians, after lengthy discussion, voted to move the Milburn Methodist Church to Glenwood and this was done in 1927. The Pioneer stated in their issue on August 20, 1927, “On Sunday after- noon, August 14, 1927, the Inaugural Service of Glenwood United Church, con- ducted by the Rev. J .M. Hooker with sermon by the Rev. Clarence MacKinnon of Pine Hill Divinity Hall, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Organist was Mrs. Edward MacDougall. Extra seating was required. Ground for the church site in Glenwood had previously been given by Alfred Gorrill and for the horse shed by W. MacDonald”. The Glenwood United Church is presently a part of the United Church Charge of O’Leary. West Devon (L0! 10) Bible Christian Church I Goss Coll. 210
