1906 was the final year of the Rev. Donald MacLean as Moderator of the West Point, Campbellton, Miminegash Charge. From 1906, the emphasis of leadership among the Presbyterians seem to flow from the Montrose, Presbyterian Church. The pastor in Montrose was the Rev. William A. MacKay, B.D. who had assumed that pastorate on November 28, 1905. 4. RECONSTRUCTION OF WESTERN CONGREGATIONS AND REALIGN- MENT ' During a meeting of the RBI. Presbytery on August 28, 1906 in Charlot— tetown, the discussion regarding the realignment proposal for preaching appoint- ments made no mention of Miminegash although the other appointments are noted. At a later meeting of the RBI. Presbytery in Charlottetown on November ' 6, 1906, Miminegash is included in the statement, “that West Point, the Brae, Campbellton, and Miminegash be one congregation”. The following minutes appears in the record of a meeting of the RBI. Presbytery held in Summerside on May 27, 1907, “That the Campbellton section of the West Point Congregation be added to the Tignish, Montrose, and Elmsdale Charge, and Bloomfield, O’Leary, West Point, and the Brae be con- solidated into one charge”. It seems that although Miminegash is mentioned in the final plans for realignment, it is not included. Noting that a year later, the Presbytery initiated action to dispose of the church property in Miminegash, it would seem probable that there was no functioning congregation in Miminegash at the time of the realignment in 1907. A procedure was followed to the effect that a Presbytery Committee met with each of the several Charges to ascertain their interests in the realignment. At West Point on May 20, 1907, Mr. W. MacNeill appeared on behalf of the Camp— bellton Presbyterian Church and reported that that section of the congregation had passed a resolution in favor of the union of the Campbellton section with the congregation of Elmsdale, Montrose, and Tignish. 5. DISCUSSION OF THE MIMINEGASH CHURCH PROPERTY The Rev. William A. MacKay resigned his pastorate on October 23, 1908 and the following month on November 3, 1908, a meeting of the RBI. Presbytery took place in Charlottetown regarding the problem of the church pro- perty in Miminegash. Since there was no minister at either the Campbellton Presbyterian Church or the Montrose Presbyterian Church, the P.E.I. Presbytery turned to the Alberton Presbyterian Church for help in this matter. A Committee on Church Property, consisting of the Rev. George Millar, E.M. MacDonald, and Benjamin Rogers, was appointed to meet and consult with the local members of the Miminegash Presbyterian Church in regard to the church property in Miminegash. 230
