2. A HISTORY OF THE CAMPBELLTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH By John Cousins

The people in the Lot 7 area were receiving the services of a minister sometime in the late 1830’s. I believe it was the Rev. Peter G. MacGregor, Presbyterian minister, who was also serving the Alberton area. There was no official sort of charge set up. That area was called the West Cape or the West Shore, and that would be basically Lot 7 starting below Campbellton, and there were very few people there and very few Protestant people, but the people who were there were like Robert Sturgeon, James Ramsay, and James MacNeill. Then you went up further to West Cape, and you had Presbyterians, I suppose, like the Curries, Hugh MacDonald, Samuel MacPherson and Thomas Dumville, and people like that. They all seemed to be lumped together, everybody along what they called the West Shore.
