GEORGE FISHER 1885 - 1889 The Reverend George Fisher died at his home, 618 Salsbury Drive, Vancouver, B.C., on December 2nd, 1942, at the ripe age of ninety years. He was born in Middle Stewiacke, Nova Scotia in 1852, and was educated at Sackville Academy, Dalhousie University and Pine Hill Theological Seminary, and was ordained by the Presbytery of P.E.I. on October 7th, 1884. Two years after ordination, Rev. Fisher married Miss Sophia Mutch, at Hopeton, P.E.I. Pastorates were held at Montrose and Campbellton, P.E.I. from 1885 - 1889 and at Dalhousie, N.B., for fourteen years. Because of health reasons Rev. Fisher and family moved to California, U.S.A., and for about seven years ministered to congregations at Tomales and Cayucos. Coming back to British Col- umbia, Canada, Rev. Fisher took appointments at Whonnock, Central Park and Gabriola Island until his retirement from the active ministry in 1929. Mrs. Fisher passed away on October 24th, 1921, at their residence in Vancouver. Since retirement, Rev. Fisher lived with his family in the Grandview district of Vancouver, and, as long as health permitted, rendered loyal and devoted service through church and session. For the last five years Rev. Fisher was confined to his home through illness, and, as his active ministry was exemplary, so now, through the ministry of suffering he brought those who ministered to him, and those who visited him into deeper fellowship with the Father who was so real to him, although his body was not functioning properly, his spirit glowed with vitality and occa- sionally a flash of humour would light up his eyes.
