looking through the gates of death, and what he saw, confirmed by a lifetime’s ex- perience, enabled him to pass on quietly and eagerly with the Master he loved.
Surviving were four sons, Douglas and Wendel, Vancouver, B.C.; Aubrey, Stewart, B.C., and John of San Francisco, U.S.A.; two daughters, Miss Edith at home, and Mrs. D.K. Faris, Vancouver, B.C. (wife of Rev. D.K. Faris, missionary in Honan who was repatriated from occupied China) and five grandsons.
The funeral service was held on December 5th, 1942, in the Grandview United Church with Rev. R. Moses, Dr. A. Barner, Rev. G.H. Villett, Dr. J.G. Brown and Rev. W.E. Galloway, officiating.
REV. EWEN GILLIES 1889 - 1891
Rev. Ewen Gillies was a native of Scotland, and came to this country about 1882 to labour in the Gospel ministry. He studied at the Presbyterian College, Halifax, and was, upon his graduation ordained at Earltown. Here he worked for seven years, afterwards removing to Prince Edward Island, where he was settled suc- cessively at Cardigan, West Point, Campbellton, Miminegash, and Murray Harbour South.
After sixteen years of arduous and successful labour, he went in 1905 to Barney’s River, in the Presbytery of Pictou. He entered into his rest at the Aberdeen Hospital in August of 1907 after a long illness, borne with great patience and faith.

REV. WILLIAM MacLEOD 1892 - 1895
Rev. William MacLeod was born at North River, Colchester Co., N.S., on Oc- tober 17th, 1856, and was educated at Dalhousie University and the Presbyterian College, Halifax. He was ordained to the Presbyterian ministry at Harcourt, N.B., in 1889. He served in the West Point, Campbellton, Miminegash Charge from 1892
