Rev. John Howe MacHame I909 - I913 REV. JOHN HOWE MacHATTIE 1909 - 1913 Rev. J. Howe MacHattie, one of the pioneer Ministers of the West, went to Saskatchewan in 1926, and passed away in the Dodsland Hospital, Sask., on Oct. 12th, 1948, in his 89th year. He was born near Caledonia, N.S., on June 15th, 1860, and after being graduated from the Presbyterian Theological College, now Pine Hill Divinity Hall, Halifax, was ordained on July 10th, 1900. He was survived by one daughter, Mrs. A. Brown of Plenty, Sask. Rev. MacHattie served the Church at Port Elgin, Little Bras D’Or, West River, and the Montrose Charge, Prince Edward Island which included churches in Tignish, Elmsdale, and Campbellton, P.E.I. He was also the pastor in Brookfield in the Maritime Conference. In 1917 he came to Saskatchewan and served on the following Charges: Plenty, Strome, Cadillac, LaFleche, Creelman, Plato and Luseland. The funeral service, held in Plenty United Church, the Church he designed and helped to build, one of the most beautiful Churches in rural Saskatchewan, was con- ducted on Oct. 15, 1948 by Rev. R.G. LeDrew of Kerrobert, Secretary of the Kindersley Presbytery, who was assisted by Rev. A.T. Moffat of Dodsland. Rev. R. Hall, Supt. of Missions for Northern Saskatchewan, preached the sermon.
