Prior to 1954, the custodian of the Campbellton United Church was Russell MacNeill. He served the church faithfully and efficiently until he decided to move to Providence, Rhode Island, USA. where he soon assumed similar duties for the Episcopal (Anglican) Church.
Mary (MacKay) Cousins, wife of Elbridge Cousins, agreed to look after the custodial duties of the church during the absence of Russell MacNeill. What started to be temporary work soon turned into a permanent responsibility, and Mary Cousins found herself acting as custodian of the Campbellton United Church.
Thirty years have past and Mary Cousins is still on the job during all the seasons of the year, providing a fire on cold winter Sunday mornings in the church stove, and keeping the church in its usual immaculate condition.
The work of Mary Cousins is much appreciated by both residents of the com- munity and also summer residents although the devotion that Mary Cousins has put into her job may be sometimes over looked. We would like to use this medium to
thank Mary Cousins for the many years of service that she has provided the church and congregation, as well as the others such as Russell MacNeill who preceeded her.
