Russell MacNeill’s uncle, James MacNeill, used the tuning fork to pitch the tune. When he would strike the note, there would be good singing. This was, of course, prior to the arrival and acceptance of church organs. The decision to give up the tuning fork in favor of the organ was a controversial one with some members claiming either the support or the disapproval of the Scriptures. In Alberton, the question of accepting the organ took seven long years before it was decided to pur- chase an organ against some very vocal opposition.

In 1902, Campbellton purchased an organ which was probably obtained from a pedlar. The first organist was Daisy MacNeill who later went to the United States. Her place was taken by her cousin, Lottie MacNeill, and the third organist was Mrs. Harry (Ethel) Thomson, who maintained the position for longer than twenty-five years.

The second church organ was secured through the gift of Carrie (Coughlin) Murphy, who stated that the organ at the time of the gift was one hundred years old.

Recent organists and an organ tuner have claimed that this second organ has better tone qualities than the first organ.
