PREFACE

ORWELL COVE HISTORY PROJECT

Several interested residents and former pupils of Orwell Cove set out to obtain information to compile a history of the community, with the vision of reflecting the ambitions and priorities of its ancestors, and the work and accomplishments of its present residents.

Extensive research was required to document the lifestyles, industries, trades, etc. of the people who lived and worked in Orwell Cove. These people are the farmers, merchants and tradesmen who developed our community.

We hope this project will develop a strong sense of community for present and future generations whose roots are in On/vell Cove. We hope to accomplish this by giving our readers

a glimpse of the past;

a look at the present; and a treasure for the future.
