On July 1, 1988, former students and teachers of Orwell Cove assembled for a school reunion. This event was held at Vernon River Hall, with approximately 140 people in attendance. Six months priorto this event, a committee that consisted of Martina Doyle, Stanley Morrison, Newman MacDonald, Alberta Gillis, Kay Gillis, Edison MacLean, Clifford McLeod, Estelle McKenna, and Michael and Perle McKenna, collected names, sent out invitations, set up a program for the day, and selected a location. Registration was at 3:00 pm. An interfaith service began at 5:00 pm. with Rev. lan MacDonald from Vernon United Church as the guest speaker. Scripture was read by Sr. Ethel MacDonald and prayer by Sr. Mae MacDonald. A tribute to deceased pupils and teachers was read by Clifford McLeod and Michael McKenna. Alberta Gillis and Kay Gillis presented flowers. A banquet was hosted by the Vernon River C.W.L. at 6:00 pm. and was enjoyed by all. A video of the event was taped by John MacLeod of Bellevue. People travelled from all parts of Canada and the New England States to attend this reunion. All who attended this event thought it was a great success.
