Thomas and Catherine MacPherson

Thomas married Catherine MacDonald and raised eight children: Catherine, Maggie, Annie, Matilda (Tildy Tom), Elizabeth (Lizzy Tom), Mary, John (Johnny Tom), and Charles. Elizabeth, Matilda, and John lived all their lives in Orwell Cove. Thomas was willed this land from his grandfather, Donald MacPherson, who divided the land between Thomas and John.

Donald and Mam MacPherson

Donald and his wife Mary and thier five children: Angus, John, Norman, Ann and Effie emigrated from the Isle of Skye, Scotland on Lord Selkirk's largest ship, the Polly in 1803 with Donald's fatherJohn MacPherson. They settled in Orwell Cove. John paid quit rents until he purchased approximately 100 acres for 25 (pounds) in April, 1806, from James Williams (Lord Selkirk's agent). All of Donald and Mary's children left Orwell Cove except for John, who had to boys Thomas and John.
