1841--The first school teacher was Donald Graham 1843--Patrick Stephens began his business at Orwell Cove 1848--May 11th, Sons of Temperance was introduced to PEI 1853--Petition granted for new road between Newtown and Port Selkirk

1856--Richard & Denis Clarke were merchants at Brush Wharf

1863--First postmaster was Patrick Stephens

1864--First tailor was Locklin Barnard

1864—-Charles McDonald was the first shipbuilder

1871--SS Heather Belle began service from Ch'town, China Point, and Brush Wharf

1888—Fox Farming started on PEl

1894—School boundaries of Orwell Head and Orwell Cove separated because of overcrowding

1894-The OnNell Cheese Factory was established
