tices of life, all avenues of life, in the stores, housework, and everyone else would receive this increase. Has anything been done on it? Let them tell this House and

the people now, let them answer the people of this country: how did they improve labour conditions? Where are the new jobs? Their chief efforts were to destroy labour jobs, they took hundreds of jobs away from good public servants, the great majority of whom had not displaced anyone when they were taken unto that work. They added to this number by throwing hundreds of people employed down in the George- town plant out of employment in Kings County. I am sure the members from Kings must be proud of them. What a record! What views do our labourers and our unions

take of this record when they killed labour jobs and killed opportunities under this government.

School tax relief. “Property taxation under the Shaw Government”, they said, has reached intolerable levels, a new Liberal Government will appoint a Commission to study “problems of taxation with the objective of abolishing taxation both urban and rural.” It is no wonder that the Premier is receiving bills from people out through the country asking him to pay this thing that he promised to initiate.

Modern housing program, where is it? A crash program for Senior Citizens homes, low rental homes, low cost buildings, mortgage for money for areas not now served. Let them tell us what has been done on this. They cannot tell you, for nothing has been done and this is a good one, action for agriculture. They have been wonderful in this one! “We will appoint a Director of Farm Labour.” Where is he Mr. Minister? Have you got the Director of farm labour? Who is he? And what is he doing? "Financial assistance to agriculture and farm management courses.”

Something that was in operation before our party went out of power. He'll appoint new field representatives and engineers. Where are they?

Honourable Daniel J. MacDonald: Coming, Sir. Walter R. Shaw: They are coming. You agreed. . . Honourable Daniel J. MacDonald: Give us time.

Walter R. Shaw: Both of you have something coming and I would like to know where they are and where are they going to be located and for what purpose?

“Farm credit and mortgage loans greatly expanded." Thy said they would loan money through our Farm Loan Board free of interest, free of paying principal for . number of years. Have they brought that up, is it in operation? I would like to know where it is? They know that it would be disasterous to bring a matter of that kind in, and how are the payments coming in, by the way, on the loans of the farmers on these loans that were given them as a result of giving them the idea.

Honourable Keir Clark: You mean Dorgan’s note? Robert E. Campbell: That’s a good one.

Honourable Keir Clark: I think perhaps it is a good a loan as where you lost $100,000.00 down at Souris. If you want to find out something about loans and some of

the other loans and just as good as the $35,000.00 you gave to Central Creameries for nothing.

Walter R. Shaw: That’s your liberal suspicious mind that is working on that one.

Walter R. Shaw: Did you give anything down in Murray Harbour? Some Member: Tell us about. . . .

Walter R. Shaw: We might look into something on that. I will tell you about the mink farm, my friend.

Some Member: Thank you.

Walter R. Shaw: I will tell you about some other of those things too that perhaps will keep your mouth shut for awhile.
