Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Imagine appointing one of their own! One of their own defeated candidates as Executive Assistant at $8,000 a year, and here they were talking about bringing them in at $4,000 and so on. They accused this government of appointing an Executive Assistant to the Premier at two and more thousand dollars more than what they had paid. $500, Mr. Leader of the Opposition; Five hundred dollars more. He is worth twice as much.

Walter R. Shaw: Might I ask, Mr. Speaker, what co-ordinator you are re- ferring to, there are so many of them, I would like to know the name of this par- ticular one?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Well now let's go over the list of the ones you criticized. First of all you criticized the Centennial Commissioner down in the provincial building. When we took office, Mr. Speaker, he was there and his salary was fixed by the previous government. Isn’t it rather strange that they now criticize

, their own actions?

Walter R. Shaw: How much is he getting?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: I don’t know what his salary is. Walter R. Shaw: We didn’t put him there.

Some Member: We didn’t put him there.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: You didn’t?

Walter R. Shaw: No.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: He was there when we got there. (Laughter).

Walter R. Shaw: There was a lot of them there when you got in, I will say that.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Well, Mr. Speaker, that is a matter we want to look into.

Walter R. Shaw: Indeed we will.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Perhaps he was never hired at all; per- aps he is not even on the payroll.

Walter R. Shaw: How much is he getting? Frank Myers: Mr. Speaker, in fairness to the Honourable Premier, who is he? Laughter).

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: His name is Mr. Donald Ross, and Mr. peaker, he is making a fine job of the things. He is out every night on the road.

Walter R. Shaw: Oh, no that’s not the man at all. I never made any reference Mr. Donald Ross, Mr. Speaker. . . .

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Oh! now! now!

Walter R. Shaw: I made no reference to Mr. Donald Ross.

Some Member: Who are you talking about?

Some Member: Addie MacDonald.

Walter R. Shaw: Addie MacDonald. The $9,000.00 man. Tell us about him?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Well now that is a man that is paid by ttawa to do work here in the province. You are not criticizing that Mr. Leader of

e Opposition, are you? Walter R. Shaw: No. Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: My gracious sakes! _57_
